Fashion event Moda announces a host of new exhibitors

National trade fashion event Moda, which takes place on 8-10 August 2010, has announced a host of new signings and brands across all sectors. Danish lifestyle brand Jackpot is making a first-time appearance at Moda Woman, offering a range of clothing and accessories aimed at the modern woman. Top Israeli label Ronen Chen is another company debuting at the show is fellow debutant Urban Threads. German brand Elegance, which offers a range of womenswear from dresses and skirts, T-shirts, blouses to accessories and shoes, is also new to the show, as are French brands Devernois, Epicea and Paule Vasseur. Kickers, Kangeroos, Tommy Hilfiger and Geox are four of the new names appearing at August’s Moda Footwear. The show, which announced plans to increase its fashion coverage last month, will also see debuts from a whole host of other brands, including Dkode, Victoria Delef, Paez, Berkemann, Florsheim and Nagore.

New fashion design concept launches online tomorrow

Own Label is a new concept in fashion design, aiming to give new designers a chance to showcase work and have garments manufactured and sold online. Own Label post specific briefs on the website, designers then submit their designs in line with the brief and the best are published on the site to be voted for by the online community. The designs with the largest number of votes at the end of the competition are manufactured and sold through the online store with the designer's name on the label. Own Label will officially launch tomorrow during Graduate Fashion Week. Graduate Fashion Week is a natural partner for Own Label. John Galliano announces Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden 2010 finalists

John Galliano, chairperson of Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden 2010, has announced Alice Palmer, Corrie Nielson and Jade Kang as his three finalists for this year’s platform at a party at private members club, The Club at The Ivy. Many high-profile fashion figures attended the event including Kate Moss, Gareth Pugh, Daphne Guinness, Amanda Harlech, Nick Knight, Stephen Jones, Erdem and Harold Tillman. Earlier in the day Colin McDowell MBE, founder and creative director of Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden chaired a panel discussion with John Galliano, renowned photographer and founder of SHOWstudio Nick Knight and Amanda Harlech. The panel discussed London’s creativity and fashions future at the St Martins Lane hotel.
