Exclusive collaboration with Erickson Beamon and Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters and jewellery designer Erickson Beamon have collaborated launching an exclusive collection later this week. This collection includes a chain and charm bracelet, a pair of anchor shaped earings, a long belly button hitting pendant and a shorter multi chain layered a-symmetric necklace. New womenswear label Rütme launches

Following the success of HUMOR in the UK, the Danish brand is set to introduce the women’s branch of the label Rütme. The creative force behind Rütme includes designer Rikke Charlotte Larsen and art director Nicole Rindsig. Together they have designed a collection full of funky silhouettes, artistic graphics and crazy colours. This debut collection samples inspiration from current females in music including Lucy Love, CocoRosie and La Roux’ singer Elly Jackson. The functionality of sportswear and the colours of vintage T-shirts and sneakers from the 1990s are combined with elaborate fashion details like puff shoulders and highly detailed graphics. New online fashion house supporting new talent, House of Maffia launches

Lisa Maffia has been on the UK music urban scene for years after being the First Lady of chart success So Solid Crew. Lisa went on to have a successful solo career and helped create the platform for take-over acts including N-Dubz, Chipmunk and TinchyStryder. Lisa is now launching her own online fashion house, House of Maffia. Using her previous experience in the music industry, Lisa hopes to help pave the way once again for up-and-coming designers. The online fashion house will feature Lisa’s own range Lei Chels, alongside a number of concessions from new and exciting creative talent. House of Maffia will act as a platform for the concession designers to showcase and feature their creations. Each designer will not only be able to sell pieces from their collection on the site, but will also each have a separate contact profile, giving them a space through which stylists, musicians and retailers can contact them direct. moloh fashion show in aid of The Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care

moloh and Calcot Manor are teaming up on 19 April to stage two fashion shows in aid of The Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care. A two course sit-down lunch will be served ahead of the half-hour fashion show. The lunchtime ticket price will be £55.00 per person to include a donation of at least £8.50 to The Lavender Trust. A half hour champagne and canapé reception at 7pm will precede the evening fashion show with tickets for this event priced at £39.00 per person to include a donation of at least £2.50 to The Lavender Trust. Craftwork campaign from Levi's

Levi’s latest campaign has been developed to support the re-launch of its UK Flagship store on Regent Street, due to open tomorrow. The campaign has gone live in print magazines and is inspired by the flagship stores Craftsmanship design. The campaign is entitled ‘Craftwork’ and was developed and created by Exposure. Levi’s has recruited 18 of London’s most talented craftworkers to feature as icons of the new store. Levi’s scoured London to find craftsmen and craftswomen across worlds as broad as art, music, performance and catering to truly represent a young and dynamic London. Imagery was shot by leading music and portrait photographer Dean Chalkley and can now be seen throughout London as of yesterday.

London Jewellery Week 2010

London Jewellery Week 2010 is set to take place this June in venues across London (See DIARY dates). The four cornerstone events of London Jewellery Week will support new designers, feature established names and give visitors an experience of two of London’s traditional jewellery quarters: Treasure is a selling exhibition to be held at Victoria House on Kingsway, featuring over 80 contemporary designers showcasing their latest bespoke collections; The Goldsmiths’ Company at Goldsmiths’ Hall will be the venue for a number of special events during the week, including the launch party and a Salon Privé fashion show; Hatton Garden will host the family-friendly Hatton Garden Street Festival, featuring open-workshops, launches, activities for kids and opportunities to learn about diamonds, stones, jewellery and the history of the area; Green Street Jewellers’ Association represents the traditional centre for London’s Asian jewellery trade and will host a series of activities, including the launch of Discover, a new consumer jewellery magazine, and a sponsored prize draw.

Former creative director of WGSN has been appointed as TEXPRINT's new chairman

TEXPRINT, the non-profit organisation that nurtures home-grown textile talent, has announced the appointment of its new chairman Barbara Kennington (formerly creative director of WGSN - leading online research, trend analysis and news service for the fashion industry). Barbara will formally take over from the current chairman Julius Schofield in September 2010 at TEXPRINT’s annual prize ceremony at Indigo, Paris.

Alexander McQueen launches Mens underwear collection for Autumn/Winter 2010

Alexander McQueen announces the launch of its first mens underwear collection for Autumn/ Winter 2010. The collection comprises of four ranges - Basic, Fashion, Sleepwear and Loungewear. The Basic range offers boxers, briefs and vests which will be available in white, black, grey and navy. Les Soeurs Anglaises

Winners of the P&G Beauty and Grooming Awards announced

The sixth annual P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards took place last night at Sketch. Created by P&G Beauty & Grooming, the awards were created to reward the talented and creative within the beauty and grooming world, and to further demonstrate their commitment to the UK beauty and grooming industry. 350 guests were in attendance including editors, publishers, and potential award-winning beauty and grooming journalist themselves. Also present were key industry figures and this year’s distinguished judging panel representing the world of beauty and grooming, style, photography, literature and the digital sector. CEW (UK) 2010 Beauty Awards finalists announced

Designer womens shopping website Tara Lacey is set to launch later this month. Giuseppe Zanotti and jeweller Delfina Delettrez collaboration

A new collaboration between Giuseppe Zanotti and jeweller Delfina Delettrez will launch in stores from July 2010. The new range is made up of five models of shoes, two pairs of pumps, one pair of boots, one pair of ballerinas and one pair of sandals, designed by Giuseppe Zanotti and incorporating designs from the Delfina Delettrez Anatomik collection. Examples include WATCH YOUR STEP!, featured here with a pair of eyes adorning the toes and HANDLE WITH CARE! which has golden fists clenched around the heels. Prices range from £800.00 to £1200.00 with the shoes available to buy from July 2010 at the Colette boutique in Paris. A UK stockist is yet to be confirmed.

Project D collection from Dannii Minogue & Tabitha

Project D is the new collaboration between Dannii Minogue and London designer Tabitha Somerset-Webb. The two have joined forces with Tabitha to create a ready-to-wear line of dresses. Inspired by Dannii’s style and Tabitha’s design flair, Project D introduces its first capsule collection, featuring flowing silk day looks, cocktail chic and red-carpet-ready dresses. Flowing georgette and silk dresses are complimented with oversized patent belts to create a strong silhouette. Sparkling details are added to draped black dresses to give a sense of glamour. The Autumn/Winter capsule collection marks the first phase of this design and lifestyle collaboration, which will also include an accessories range and the launch of an eponymous fragrance later in 2010. Live magazine showcasing emerging British talent

Blood, Sweat & Fears is a live magazine, taking place in central London this month, which will showcase emerging British talent from across creative fields. Translating the concept of a magazine from the printed page to a live, interactive event, BS&F will feature artists as diverse as illustrators, musicians and a ‘haute coiffeur’ hairdresser and even jellymongers. The five-day event will run from 17-21 March at 65-67 Broadwick Street, London W1 in support of Art Against Knives. Traditional magazine elements such as photo shoots and interviews will be transformed into participatory activities that invite the audience into the artist’s work environment. The artists, their work, the event and the audience’s participation will be documented across the five days and rendered back onto paper for a limited edition publication, due for release in May. Central Saint Martins College of Art final year student, Chelsea Campbell along with Richard Danks, of London College of Fashion, is curating the interactive experience. Aimed at London’s creative community, from ad agency executives to students, Blood, Sweat & Fears aims to inspire discussion and help expose undiscovered talent. As well as the timetable of live events, the space will act as a pop-up shop showcasing the work of young artists and designers across the five days.

Beauty brand SteamCream launch design competition

Beauty brand SteamCream has launched a competition aimed at emerging artists. It will give the opportunity for entrants to design their own piece of collectable art, in the form of a new SteamCream aluminium tin design. The winning design will feature the artist’s name on the base of the tin, and will be available via www.steamcream.co.uk, as well as being offered to all SteamCream stockists including Liberty, Selfridges, John Lewis, Saatchi Art Gallery, ASOS.com. The design will join other new designs launching in 2010. The winner will also receive 60 tins of SteamCream featuring their design. Moschino re-interprets Starck designed chair

Moschino has re-interpreted the ‘Mademoiselle’ chair, created by Philippe Starck for Kartell in 2004. The chairs are used to furnish a selection of rooms in Maison Moschino; the new Moschino hotel opened this month 2010 in Milan. ‘Wallpaper’ is a Mademoiselle chair covered in gold brocade fabric, a theme carried through the ‘Wallpaper’ room. ‘The Bow’, pictured here, is a Mademoiselle chair that furnishes the room of the same name; the space like the chair is decorated by coloured bows. ‘Wallpaper’, ‘The Bow’, ‘Alice’s Room’, ‘Sleeping in a Ballgown’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ are names given to the different rooms – totalling in 16 different design concepts – that have a design inspired by fairytales. Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden appoints John Galliano as chairperson

Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden 2010 has announced John Galliano as the new honorary chairperson for the next two years, taking over from Donatella Versace. Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden was set up seven years ago to help and support young talented designers in London. It was the original platform to discover, nurture and sustain design talent across the UK and has launched more than 13 successful designers. The application process for Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden 2010 is now open and closes on 30 April.

Clemency-London New Collection









For Spring/Summer 2010 the Clemency-London collection is inspired by icons of the 1960s, including Jane Birkin and Bridget Bardot. Soft luxe dresses in layers are mixed with couture military-influenced jackets. Drapes of chiffon are left with frayed hems and tattered edges. Antique, hand-embellishments give a feminine, vintage feel while biker jackets are decorated with frills and thrown over shorts or piquet polos. Designer, Alison Clemency-Buddenhagen graduated from Central St.Martins and was offered a design position at Giorgio Armani working directly with him for four years before being head-hunted for several design posts including creative consultant for Trussardi in Milan and as design director for Calvin Klein in New York. She worked closely with Christopher Bailey and Rose Marie Bravo as a director at Burberry for five years and as creative director for Joseph in London.

Eccentric Shirts

Eccentricshirts.com was launched recently by Peter Barnett, who already runs a business manufacturing clothing for leading specialist shirt retailers, many of whom are by Royal Appointment. Demand for special orders was such that Peter decided to launch eccentricshirts.com in December 2009. The Spring collection spans a wide spectrum ranging from the more conventional pink, through to the ‘extreme’ eccentric collection. This consists of flamboyant floral prints of roses (Rosie), tropical palms (Tikki) and the ‘Help for Heroes’ Union Jack shirt (Lulu) of which £10.00 is being donated to the charity for every shirt sold. Other designs available include shirts with split-windscreen ‘60s VW camper vans (Becky); with surfboards (Shruti); with retro ‘60s drinks’ bottle tops (Topsy). All of the latest shirts are made from quality two fold cotton poplin fabric and lawns. To add to the eccentricity of the site, all the men’s shirts are given a female name along with a quirky story accompanying the item (women’s shirts will follow soon, with men’s names). Miss Sixty launch iPhone app


Miss Sixty are just about to launch an iPhone app. The application, which features the Spring/Summer 2010 campaign lets consumers ‘enter’ the Miss Sixty brand on the go. The App features the ‘Making of’ videos behind the campaign shoots and ‘In Store Now’ which lets viewers visit the virtual store and learn about the brand new arrivals as they come. There is also a ‘Look of the Month’ section and the ‘What’s Hot’ section for all the brand new Miss Sixty news. And to ‘reward’ fans for downloading the App, there is an ‘Only 4 You’ section which is updated with special initiatives, exclusive gifts and invitations to upcoming ‘glam happenings’.

River Island Launching Kidswear

River Island is launching its debut kidswear line for Spring/Summer 2010. Expanding its remit to include girls and boys aged 3-10 years; the ‘Boys & Girls Collection’ is influenced by River Island’s older lines but developed especially for kids. The new collection will be available online from 6 April and in selected stores across the UK from the 12 April. Styles for girls include skinny grey biker jeans, pink embellished tutu skirts, patchwork dresses and studded denim waistcoats, while for boys, 50’s style varsity sports jackets, ripped jeans, rocker tees and drummer boy jackets all feature. Footwear styles include roughed up workman boots for girls and preppy deck shoes for boys. Prices range from £3.99 for vests to £14.99 for dresses and £24.99 for jackets.

The Greatest Fashion Show on Earth

From 18-20 March, Westfield London in partnership with leading fashion magazine, Sunday Times Style, will host ‘The Greatest Fashion Show on Earth’. The three day spectacle starts with a VIP night, in collaboration with the British Fashion Council, supporting Naomi Campbell's Fashion For Relief Campaign and the White Ribbon Alliance to raise funds for mothers and babies in Haiti. Erin O'Connor will open the event, alongside chairman of The British Fashion Council, Harold Tillman. The VIP evening will also include a charity auction to support the White Ribbon Alliance, with special guest and White Ribbon Alliance Global Patron Sarah Brown. Two of the BFC Vogue Designer Fashion Fund short-listers will be showcasing their talent on the runway. Set in The Atrium exhibition space, the show will showcase 54 looks from the season's latest trends, from over 700 fashion brands, from luxury labels to high street favourites, chosen by stylist Charlie Anderson and produced by London Fashion Week’s On|Off designers The Doll. Finally, Angel Jackson will be creating a limited edition Fashion for Relief bag which will be sold at Westfield throughout the three day event.

Fred Perry collaboration with Liberty of London

Fred Perry has announced its new ‘Blank Canvas’ range in collaboration with Liberty of London. The collaboration sees the two British brands join forces on a collection of classic Fred Perry items to launch internationally in April. The range includes four classic Fred Perry pieces styled using two of Liberty’s classic prints; ‘Mark’ (paisley) and ‘Edenham’ (floral). Items include four re-worked classic M12 polos, two in black with ecru tipping and two in white with larkspur and berry red tipping. The polos have then either been printed all over in each print or have a subtle touch with the Edenham or Mark print on the inner collar and placket. A short-sleeved shirt fully printed in both Liberty designs and the Classic Fred Perry Black Harrington Jacket with Mark lining complete the Blank Canvas collection.

New contemporary jewellery range LUA LUA

Gaudion Bowerbank has announced the launch of the new contemporary jewellery range LUA LUA by Justyna Niewiara at www.gaudionbowerbank.com Justyna Niewiara has a background in Fine Art, studying History of Art at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, developing an understanding of form, colour and material that inspired her designs for the new collection. Justyna draws inspiration from fashion designers such as Hussein Chalayan and Martin Margiela. Some of her recent collections have been in response to art, fashion, music and even chemistry and physics. Mango “el Botón”-MANGO Fashion Awards

Mango has launched the third edition of its “el Botón”-MANGO Fashion Awards, a competition which aims to promote the international projection of talented young fashion designers. Participants will have the opportunity to present their collections before a prestigious jury and compete for 300,000 euros in prize money, the largest sum offered to date in a competition of this type. In late April, the jury will select the 10 finalists from all the applications presented. The finalists will then receive 18,000 euros to produce their collection, with the winner being announced in November. In the previous editions, the jury of the “el Botón”-MANGO Fashion Awards had two chairmen, the acclaimed designers Valentino and Oscar de la Renta. Respectively, they awarded the prize to the winning Belgian duo Sandrina Fasoli & Michaël Marson and, last year, to the South Korean designer, Lee Jean Youn.

ELLE has launched a nationwide search for talented shop girls and boys who have what it takes to become international stylists. ELLE has always supported fashion talent on the British high street and retail teams play a huge role in its success, so ELLE plans to recognise the talented shop girls and boys who style the UK every day. ELLE Shop Girl to Stylist is a six-month nationwide talent search to discover a shop girl or boy who has what it takes to make it as a fashion stylist. The winner will get the chance to style an ELLE shoot, plus a magazine internship and expert mentoring from ELLE’s fashion director, Anne-Marie Curtis. Entrants will register at elleuk.com/shopgirltostylist where they are required to complete an online questionnaire demonstrating their styling credentials and provide a reference from their retail employer. ELLE will support the campaign throughout the six months in the magazine and online at ELLEuk.com, capturing the various stages as the competition progresses – culminating in an X Factor-style final in London later in the year. The winner will be announced in the October 25th-anniversary issue of ELLE.

Cosmetics à la Carte has partnered with Dr Rita Rakus. With over 15 years of aesthetic experience, Dr Rakus provides expertise in non-surgical facial rejuvenation by way of facial line reduction and lip enhancement using injectables.
