
Many British fashion designers are building their businesses by selling to top stores and boutiques overseas. The following brands - among those looking to win a prestigious prize at next week’s
UK Fashion & Textile Export Awards have built up reputations in New York, Tokyo, Paris, Milan:
- Anna Lou of London – bright, stylish jewellery
- Anna Scholz – designer clothing in plus sizes
- Bolongaro Trevor – edgy contemporary designs
- Damaris – high fashion, avant garde lingerie
- Esska – urban footwear
- Fiona Paxton – jewellery which fuses Indian artisanship with the iconography of the British punk era
- La Petite Salope – contemporary feminine, fashion label sitting alongside luxury brands such as Lanvin and Balenciaga in overseas stores
- Lascivious – sexy lingerie
- Lie Down I Think I Love You – handbags and shoes from vintage scarves and powder compacts
- Linda Farrow – eyewear ranges for Dries Van Noten, Matthew Williamson, Yohji Yamamoto
The Awards are organised by the
UK Fashion & Textile Association, which has also launched a Let’s Make it Here initiative to promote fashion and textile companies that still manufacture in the UK today.
