Exclusive Charity Wine Tasting Weekend with Jancis Robinson

FT wine expert, Jancis Robinson OBE has joined forces with Mike Armitage, founder of the Interesting Wine Club, to auction a Charity Wine-tasting Weekend (July 16 - 18) for six wine lovers at Briancon, Mike’s maison de maitre in the Dordogne. All monies raised will be donated to the newly formed UK charity arm of the Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF) of which Mike is a Trustee. Selected fine wines and champagnes from Mike’s wine cellar are on offer accompanied by three days of food in the company of Jancis, a leading wine expert and writer. Guests will be met on arrival at either Bergerac airport or Angouleme train station and whisked on to a vintage champagne and wine reception; on Saturday, tutored tastings of German wines accompanied by foie gras and a vineyard visit to taste one of the great Monbazillac’s are followed by a ‘Burgundy dinner’; Sunday will include a ‘Bordeaux lunch’ by the pool. Guests will be chauffered back to the airport or train station on the Sunday night or Monday morning. This wine lovers and culinary weekend (exclusive of air or train travel) will go to the highest bidders with a £6000.00 reserve on all six places or £2000.00 per couple. As the bids will be considered charitable donations, the cost will actually work out at £600.00 per head. Those interested should place their bids by the closing date of 7 June 2010 either via www.jancisrobinson.com or, those not Purple members of Jancis’ site, with mail@mjarmitage.com. Visit both the www.jancisrobinson.com and the www.lessoeursanglaises.com websites and blog for complete details. Visit www.cambodianchildrensfund.org to learn more about the charity.
