Tommy Hilfiger has announced an exclusive footwear capsule collection created in collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation and Artestar LLC. Featuring artwork from the late artist Keith Haring, the capsule collection contains sneakers and rain boots for women and children as well as sneakers for men. The capsule collection officially launches in footwear specialty stores as well as select department stores, in Fall 2010. Keith Haring was an artist and activist who frequently used his art to speak about social issues. Diagnosed with AIDS in 1988, Haring established the Keith Haring Foundation in 1989 to provide funding and imagery to AIDS organisations, and to ensure that his philanthropic legacy would continue indefinitely. The Keith Haring Foundation’s mission is to sustain, expand and protect the legacy of Haring’s art and his ideals. The Foundation supports organisations that assist underprivileged children, as well as organisations engaged in education, research and care with respect to AIDS and HIV. Keith Haring’s estate is represented by Artestar LLC, an international brand licensing and consulting firm, who specialises in fine art, fashion and design brands.
