People Tree collaborates with Laura Ashley and Orla Kiely
People Tree has announced two new additions to its designer collaborators. For SS 2011 the Fair Trade and sustainable fashion brand has joined with both Laura Ashley and Orla Kiely to develop a range of clothing and accessories. These two new brands join seasoned collaborators Bora Aksu and Sam Ubhi in the new line up. Three original Laura Ashley prints from their 1970s archive were chosen by People Tree, re-coloured in contemporary shades and printed onto 100% organic cotton in modern silhouettes. The range includes a sleeveless fitted jumpsuit, A -line skirt with large patch pockets and a pair of flared turn up shorts. A navy floral print is developed into a 1950s style dress with a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice top and box shaped blazer. To add colour to the range a pink floral print was made in to a puff sleeve tunic top and a round neck shift dress with bow detail on the shoulders. Orla Kiely has developed two soft cotton slouch bags for high summer: a small across-the-body sling bag with tan leather clasp tab and a large holdall with shoulder straps and brown leather trim. Both bags are made with jute cotton in a shade of sand beige, with a lattice flower screen print of entwining flower and leaf motifs. Both are available in two colourways; brown and green or navy and orange.
