The Spring 2011 collection from Ports 1961 has recently been revealed. The new collection, named Essadi, draws inspiration from sand dunes and desert landscapes. Designer Fiona Cibani has used innovative layering techniques as well as artful detailing including iridescent crystals featured on eveningwear and granular film applied to fabric through heat treatment, to offer a modern interpretation of appliqué. Colours present also recall the desert, with muted day-time neutrals: Ivory, Shell and Rosette paired with earth tones like Dune, Mica, Willow and Sahara. These contrast with the gem-like tones of Terracotta, Emerald, Sapphire and Amethyst. The new Essadi Collection will be available from Ports 1961 on the 2nd floor at Harvey Nichols from January 2011.
