British photographer Rankin has shot his first hair collection, with top British hairdresser Errol Douglas MBE. The pair collaborated on the set of images after Errol approached Rankin with his concept. He says, “Rankin liked the concept because of the edginess and clean shapes of the cuts. The hair colours were done by my colour master, Jasmin Allen, and it’s out with highlights and in with strong block colour –aubergine, red, blue-black, pure blonde, auburn/thorn. The two-tone colour is an orange bled through the underneath of the ends so it peeks through. The shapes and textures are Couture Grunge, made a little more sculptured. To get the texture of the quiff you take a small amount of hair, scrunch, spray to the head, put a net over it and blow dry – the pressure of the net, spray and heat makes it beautifully matted, a big story coming off the catwalk.” Errol Douglas Hairdressing is at 18 Motcomb Street, London, SW1X 8LB. www.erroldouglas.com
